The Juneau Dairy 1/4 Pint
This 100% pure beeswax candle is molded from an antique Juneau Dairy 1/4 Pint glass bottle.
The Juneau Dairy was formed in 1902 by Lee Smith, who was born in 1888 in Fairfax County, VA. The dairy was located in the vicinity of where Harborview Elementary School stands today in downtown Juneau. In 1911, it is thought that the Juneau Dairy produced the first glass milk bottles in all of Alaska! At one point, the Juneau Dairy consisted of over 90 cows. In 1936, the Juneau Dairy consolidated with the Mendenhall Dairy and other dairies to form Juneau Dairies Inc.
The smooth surface bottle this candle was molded from (with the '1/4 pint' embossed on the bottom of the logo) was found by scuba diver Dave Sulser in Sitka, AK. The other bottle with the 1/4 above the logo near the top of the logo is owned by Kathryn Brownlee.
Please note that the bottle pictured is for reference purposes only and will not be included with your candle.
