What We Do
From Alaska's capital city, we are a small business that creates 100% pure beeswax candles replicated from extremely rare, antique Alaskan bottles. A mold is cast by delicately preparing the fragile bottle and placing in a housing vessel. Prepared silicone is gently poured into the molding and cured for several hours. Only a handful of these bottles exist in the world making these candle replicas one of the most unique items you may find anywhere! |

Historical Acknowledgement
Old Alaska Co. embraces Southeast Alaska’s rich, diverse history. Though most of these candles and molded directly from extremely rare and century old bottles from the Southeast Region, the history of this region expands well beyond the written history. Juneau, Alaska’s State Capital would have never been established without the interaction between Chief Kowee of the Auk tribe, Joseph Juneau and Richard Harris in 1880. Old Alaska Co. recognizes the importance of continuance of indigenous legacy through their centuries of inhabitance, culture and heritage, long before Joe Juneau or other western gold seekers established their presence in the late 19th Century.
Old Alaska Co. not only recognizes this importance, but also strongly encourages the curiosity of our customers in seeking out resources to learn about the broad and beautiful (and sometimes not-so-beautiful) history of Alaska.

About Us
We are Kathryn and Lindsay, two Juneau resident women who share a passion for preserving and learning about Alaskan history through old glass bottles. While not working on Old Alaska Co., we also balance full-time jobs and motherhood.
Lindsay is an active-duty Coast Guard officer who was first stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska in 2018 after graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She now works at District 17 in Juneau. In her spare time, she enjoys scuba diving with local friends. Kathryn is a mother of three boys, a business graduate business from the University of Alaska Southeast, and has lived in Juneau her entire life. Kathryn enjoys low-tide wading for beach treasure and harvesting wild Alaskan berries.
In June of 2022, we decided to give our bottles an entirely new purpose by creating Old Alaska Co. The idea is that "Old Alaska" is what we sell, and "Company" (Co for short) is who we are.
If you have any questions about bottles you may own, please reach out to us through the contact forum. Thank you for reading and for your appreciation of Alaska's antique bottles.
